Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) is seeking interns to support engineers and scientists on various space programs, including Human Landing Systems, Space Launch Systems, and the International Space Station. The role focuses on hardware development, payload integration, laboratory and test operations, modeling and simulation, space environments, scientific research, and propulsion systems.

Requirements

  • Desire to conduct detailed hands-on work in a Lab testing environment on sub scale models to full scale structures in some of NASA’s largest indoor and outdoor test facilities.
  • Load Control systems.
  • Instrumentation systems, with emphasis on strain, displacement, and force measurement.
  • Facility and space hardware operations.
  • High pressure gas and hydraulic systems
  • Operations in the presence of Cryogenic Liquids and Explosives.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior Test Engineers (coordination of test plan implementation and follow ET30 procedures) for Structural Strength Testing.
  • Scope of work will include test planning, scheduling, procurement, procedural preparations, test conduct, and fixture fabrication.
  • Interact with drawings of facilities, test hardware, customer hardware, and instrumentation requirements.
  • Write instructions for technician operations, including application of safety procedures.
  • Work with a diverse team of civil servants and contractors to design, develop, setup, and perform structural testing on space flight qualification hardware, and other mission critical hardware.
  • Develop and deliver reports and presentations as requested to support ESSCA and customer requirements via Power Point and other various software packages.
  • Perform safety and certification training to support ESSCA and customer requirements.

Other

  • Must have completed at least Junior year, and working toward a BS degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering or related field is required.
  • Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%).
  • Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%).
  • Requires travel in the domestic USA (<5%).
