Duke Energy is looking for Summer Interns to assist higher-level technicians in substation and line construction and maintenance activities, aiming to develop future talent within the company.
Requirements
- Basic understanding of the Human Performance Tools and requirements
- Basic understanding of the isolation of substation and line equipment and grounding practices
- Basic understanding of electrical drawings (substation equipment schematics and power system drawings)
- Basic understanding of NERC compliance and the importance for accurate data and timely completion of assigned work
- Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Basic understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics systems
- Develop a basic understanding of AC and DC basic principles
Responsibilities
- Assist a higher-level technician in activities associated with line/substation construction and maintenance.
- Basic understanding of the isolation of substation and line equipment and grounding practices
- Basic understanding of electrical drawings (substation equipment schematics and power system drawings)
- Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Basic understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics systems
- Exposure to Transmission and Distribution system switching activities
- Develop a basic understanding of AC and DC basic principles
Other
- Clearly understand the importance of company safe work practices and safety rules
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communications skills
- Develops the ability to think methodically and arrange activities in logical order
- Demonstrate the basic ability to operate bucket, digger derrick truck and other areal devices
- Currently enrolled and pursuing a two- or four-year degree in Engineering Technology or related field
