Builders FirstSource is seeking an Operations Intern to gain real-world experience in the building materials industry, specifically within a lumber yard setting. The internship aims to provide exposure to daily operations, logistics, and supply chain functions, helping students explore careers in these fields while contributing to the efficiency and smooth running of the yard.
Requirements
- Operate handheld scanners, data entry systems, and inventory tracking software (training provided).
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally and stand/walk for extended periods.
Responsibilities
- Support daily yard and warehouse operations, including receiving, staging, and dispatching building materials.
- Assist with inventory tracking, cycle counts, and restocking materials to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Help fulfill customer orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in product delivery.
- Learn and apply safety standards in material handling, forklift operations, and yard organization.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing waste.

- Observe and assist with customer service interactions and order issue resolution.
Other
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Strong interest in warehouse operations, logistics, or the construction supply industry.
- Willingness to work in an outdoor/warehouse environment with exposure to varying weather and physical tasks.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and eager to learn.
- Preferred: Junior or Senior standing with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
