Duquesne Light Company is seeking a Civil Engineering intern to assist the Civil Engineering group in planning, designing, and ordering materials for distribution and transmission facilities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of power to customers.
Requirements
- ABET-Accredited BS or MS program in Civil Engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Responsibilities
- The Civil Engineering group plans, designs, and orders materials for our distribution and transmission facilities (lines and substations) in a cost-effective manner to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of power to our customers.
- Groups include: Distribution Engineering, Third Party Attachments, Substation Design Engineering, Substation Control Engineering, and the Civil & Transmission Line Engineering.
- Civil Engineering intern is sought for full-time (40 hours/week) position for the Summer 2026 Internship program.
Other
- Internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August).
- Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed their Sophomore year of studies.
- Candidates must have at least one semester remaining after completion of the internship/must not have graduated prior to the internship starting.
- Candidates must be in good academic standing.
- Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
- Interns must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer.
- Applicants must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and social media screen.
