The Ohio State University is looking to solve sustainability challenges facing Ohio relating to energy, land use, water, and agricultural systems and the health and well-being of people and communities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in agricultural, environmental, or applied economics with three years relevant experience required or five years of relevant experience required with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in data management, econometric modeling, predictive modeling, integrated assessment models
  • Experience in interdisciplinary research settings
  • Experience in higher education interfacing with research faculty
  • Experience with proposal writing and development in higher education
  • Excellent organization, written, and verbal communications skills
  • Team oriented and highly collaborative while thriving autonomously

Responsibilities

  • Lead funding proposals to local, state, federal funding agencies, industry, and foundations on sustainability topics.
  • Lead or co-lead transdisciplinary teams of researchers and external partners in co-developing research and the modeling, data analysis, and translational methods needed to inform solutions to local and regional sustainability challenges.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary research leaders and staff to secure extramural research funding.
  • Lead the development of integrated assessment models and tools to guide practical solutions that enhance the efficiency of U.S. Midwest agricultural, energy, and water systems.
  • Lead the design and development of predictive land use and economic models for the U.S. Midwest to project agricultural, forest, urban, and other land use changes under baseline and alternative regional and global change conditions.
  • Take the lead on analysis, modeling, writing, and publishing research work.
  • Support the PI and co-PIs in managing the research, including leading discussions of model integration, mentoring predoctoral students in scholarly work, and advising on data management systems and software development.
