Citi is seeking a Data Scientist to leverage advanced data analytics, machine learning, and quantitative methods to optimize client-, product-, operations strategies, enhance risk management, and drive innovation in asset custody, fund administration, and investor services.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python, R, or other relevant languages
- Strong knowledge of SQL, big data tools and cloud platforms
- Expertise in statistical modelling, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization tools (e.g., QlikSense, Tableau)
- Experience with end-to-end data pipelines in production environments
- Understanding of custody and fund services processes, including securities settlement, fund valuation, risk management, and compliance
- Experience with investments and financial datasets and familiarity with regulatory frameworks in multiple jurisdictions
- Knowledge of advanced techniques like natural language processing (NLP) for contract analysis or time-series forecasting for market trends
Responsibilities
- Data Analysis and Modelling: Perform large-scale analysis on proprietary datasets related to securities custody, fund accounting, trade settlements, and client portfolios. Develop and deploy machine learning models for applications such as predictive analytics, operational efficiency, and client behaviour forecasting.
- End-to-End Solution Development: Design, prototype, and productionize data science solutions, addressing real-world problems across Investor Services.
- Quantitative Research: Conduct research to identify opportunities for automation and optimization in custody and fund services. Provide independent assessments and recommendations to enhance business processes.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with cross-functional teams including product, operations, risk controls, compliance, and technology to integrate data insights into daily workflows.
- Innovation and Problem-Solving: Explore emerging technologies like AI and big data analytics to solve unprecedented challenges in securities custody, fund services and execution services, ensuring scalability across international markets.
- Data Governance and Quality: Collaborate on reference data management, workflow enhancements, and issue escalation to maintain high standards of data accuracy and integrity.
- Global Perspective: Adapt solutions to diverse regulatory, data privacy environments and cultural contexts, supporting multi-jurisdictional client needs.
Other
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, or a related quantitative field
- 3-5+ years in data science or quantitative research roles, preferably within financial services, asset management, or custody/fund administration
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences
- Proven track record of problem-solving in fast-paced, global environments
