Requirements
- Strong mechanical engineering analytical skills, experience selecting materials and manufacturing processes based on engineering requirements
- Proficiency in 3D CAD, creating 2D drawings and practical application of GD&T
- Proficiency in tolerance analyses with statistical techniques
- Practical experience working with external manufacturing vendors (DFM/DFA, FAI/CPK dimensional reports)
- Thorough knowledge of engineering materials, understanding of property tradeoffs and interpreting FEA results
- Experience with failure analysis, root cause investigation, and DOE creation
- Fluent in Unigraphics NX including surfacing, statistical software (JMP), MacOS
Responsibilities
- direct responsibility over the mechanical design, analysis, assembly and reliability of parts within Apple Vision products, spanning the full design cycle from concept generation, prototyping, testing and collaborating with vendors to bring your design to life.
- multi-disciplinary collaboration with teams like Industrial Design, Project Management, Manufacturing, EE, Display, Camera, Antenna, Battery, Softgoods, Human Engineering, Safety and more.
- selecting materials and manufacturing processes based on engineering requirements
- creating 2D drawings and practical application of GD&T
- tolerance analyses with statistical techniques
- working with external manufacturing vendors (DFM/DFA, FAI/CPK dimensional reports)
- failure analysis, root cause investigation, and DOE creation
Other
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering
- 7+ years of hands-on product design experience
- Experience working in technical project groups in a professional environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including emails, slide presentations and presenting technical concepts to multi-disciplinary teams
- Detail orientated and capable of handling multiple assignments at once
