Deloitte Tax LLP's Gi3 service line is looking to solve the problem of providing comprehensive tax credits and incentives services to clients, including the R&D credit, and needs a Software Specialist to work on tax incentive engagements
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in software development/engineering with working knowledge in analysis, design, architecture and development of applications and/or systems
- Understanding software development life cycles including agile, iterative, waterfall, etc.
- Experience using software development languages including Java, JavaScript, C++, etc.
- Understanding of design patterns and best practices of developing enterprise web applications and database development
- 5+ years of experience in in software architecture and design, software development, and project or program management (preferred)
- Proven knowledge of R&D tax incentives (preferred)
- Experience with Federal or State and Local Credits and Incentives (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Lead technical discussions with clients and evaluate the activities performed and scope of work to determine R&D credit eligibility
- Educate meeting participants and convey expertise in both the R&D tax credit and nuances of how it applies to the field of software engineering
- Review and provide technical feedback to Deloitte teams and Client representatives to collect information needed to document qualifying R&D projects
- Review technical documentation to evaluate that it supports clients' activities as qualified R&D
- Evaluate the specifics of client R&D activities and make determination of whether it is qualified research
- Deliver value to clients by identifying opportunities and advising clients on potential benefit and eligibility requirements
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax developments and work with the team to present potential

- Ability to work in a complex deadline-oriented environment, working on many different and dynamic engagements simultaneously
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax Processionals to co-locate in person (in office/at client site) 2-3 days per week
- Ability to travel 10% on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related degree
- One of the following accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain: Licensed CPA, Licensed attorney, Enrolled Agent, Project Management Professional (PMP), Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA), Professional Engineer
