AWS Infrastructure Services needs to support and deploy one of the world's largest and most complex telecommunication networks, improve business processes, and ensure the highest standards for safety and security while providing infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers.
Requirements
- Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies, related to infrastructure (i.e. network, data center, hardware, software)
- 3+ years of technical infrastructure management experience
- Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds
- Experience working in a network planning, network construction/implementation, or commercial implementation role at an ISP, telecoms operator, or Hyperscaler
- Knowledge of optical transport technologies
- Knowledge of backbone network engineering design principles
- Expert knowledge of network infrastructure providers
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple competing cross-functional projects/programs simultaneously, some on a global scale
- Manage vendors to ensure on-time deployment, measure progress, and evaluate performance through quality Key Performance Indicators
- Identify vendors and develop commercial solutions for wavelengths, dark fiber, and other network infrastructure capacity
- Negotiate key vendor contracts from business and technical perspectives in partnership with AWS legal teams
- Work with suppliers to verify and gain supply in response to forecast demand and network topology plans
- Develop strategic backbone and metro supply plans for short, medium, and long-term needs (leased capacity, fiber pairs, new cable builds)
- Collaboratively develop network infrastructure execution plans involving leased wavelengths, dark fiber, and submarine cable capacity/builds

- 5+ years telecommunications industry experience in procurement and negotiations
- Experience in regularly interacting with senior management on matters concerning several areas, divisions, and/or customers
- This position requires onsite visits to physical locations and is not a full-time remote job.
- Physical inspections and learning the technical standards for outside and inside fiber plant is required.
