HRL is seeking an experienced technical project manager to lead a team of technical project managers and ensure successful product development supporting quantum information research.

Requirements

  • Experience working in low technology readiness level / R&D environments.
  • Experience in a relevant industry or technical area such as hardware/product development, electronics, or quantum physics.
  • Expertise with project management and risk management tools
  • Experience with ERP, MRP, Data Management and Configuration Management systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the TPM team, partnering with Technical Leads to define top priority initiatives, technical and schedule risks, and associated burn-down plans.
  • Strategic judgement in the execution of objectives while balancing resources across for the technical teams.
  • Responsible for engineering reviews and risk management, driving clear actionable plans to close gaps.
  • Provide mentorship and constructive feedback to support employee development.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement critical engineering and/or business processes and tools to increase the quality of product lifecycle execution

Other

  • Lead and manage a team of technical project managers, ensuring technical excellence, execution and professional growth.
  • Communicating to upper management key decision points in the overall product execution
  • Help build relationships with customers/stakeholders through strategic planning and execution excellence.
  • 10+ years of professional experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication skills; includes oral and written.
  • Ability to build partnerships and drive decision making with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in Engineering or Physics.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must have or be willing to apply for and maintain a security clearance.
