The COLUMBIA I&C & AC Power department is looking to solve the problem of designing power distribution, reactor plant, steam plant, and electric plant systems and equipment for the new COLUMBIA Class submarines
Requirements
- Diverse knowledge of electrical engineering concepts
- Nuclear Propulsion Plant experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree
- Project planning and management experience
- Reactor Plant Operator and/or Electric Plant Operator experience
- Ability to read & work from electrical system diagrams and schematics
- Experience with power generation and distribution, steam-plant and reactor-plant instrumentation & control
Responsibilities
- Developing the test procedures for the first of a new class of submarines
- Troubleshooting and construction support for electrical systems
- Leading component qualification testing projects
- Managing system and component interfaces including electrical, structural, piping, and mechanical
- Supporting 3D model development and arrangement of systems, cableways, and system components
- Overseeing subcontractor designs, manufacturing, testing, and qualification
- Supporting the ongoing construction, testing, and time critical troubleshooting for the COLUMBIA Class submarines at the Quonset Point and Groton shipyards
Other
- High school diploma
- 4+ years Navy experience
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, work in teams and possess skills that permit independent functioning without significant oversight
- Ability to work under pressure and pay high attention to detail
