General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking to solve the business and technical problem of providing systems engineering support for in-service submarines, ensuring their readiness, modernization, and accurate configuration records. This involves managing engineering changes, documentation updates, and responding to technical queries from various Navy entities to maintain the operational effectiveness of the fleet.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of U.S. Navy Supply/Logistics experience
  • 2+ years in inspection or quality assurance, ideally in a defense or government contracting environment
  • Working knowledge of MIL-STD-129 and MIL-STD-2073-1 requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, military specifications, technical instructions, and technical data packages (TDPs)
  • Experience with EB certification and training electronic programs (Mainframe, Electronic Desktop, Cornerstone, etc.)
  • Prior experience working with NAVSUP or DLA; using ONETOUCH, Haystack and TARP
  • Experience with special emphasis programs (DSS-SOC, SUBSAFE, and Fly-by-Wire) requirements is desired

Responsibilities

  • Provide project management support for initial system and/or component design, ship alteration upgrades, material ship out inspections and life cycle support
  • Troubleshoot problem statements and provide resolution to system and component related questions and problems from Naval Shipyards, Navy forces afloat, land based prototypes, prime contractors and NAVSEA engineering and program offices
  • Ensure all material shipments supporting the fleet meet Department of Defense (DoD) requirements as outlined in MIL-STD-129 and MIL-STD-2073-1
  • Inspect, verify, and document packaging and labeling of military shipments, ensuring conformance with contract requirements and applicable military specifications
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of packaging and labeling operations to ensure compliance with MIL-STD-2073 (standard practice for military packaging) and MIL-STD-129 (marking for shipment and storage)
  • Identify and report non-conformances and initiate corrective actions when required
  • Maintain inspection records and prepare reports for compliance audits and internal quality systems

Other

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense
  • This role requires up to 75% travel to perform inspections at various sites, including Connecticut and Rhode Island.
  • Extended hours may be required based on business needs.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and work in a warehouse or shipping environment
