Disney's Studio Technology team is looking to build intelligent, cloud-native, AI-driven systems to power global content operations and redefine how stories are made and shared. They need to develop and optimize Business to Business systems for a seamless user experience.
Requirements
- Experience programming in at least one of the following: Kotlin, Java, or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with backend frameworks such as Spring Boot (for Java/Kotlin)
- Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as React or AngularJS.
- Understanding of microservice architecture and RESTful API design.
- Basic experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
- Object-oriented programming skills.
- Knowledge of design patterns and algorithms.
Responsibilities
- design, develop, and support backend services and APIs that help power the systems behind Disney’s global storytelling.
- Collaborate across disciplines: partner with engineers, product managers, and media technologists to deliver features that improve workflows across the studio.
- Experiment with modern AI and automation tools: explore how AI-assisted coding, testing, and orchestration can accelerate software development and media supply chain efficiency.
- Contribute to cloud-native, event-driven microservices using technologies like Spring Boot, Node.js, and modern databases.
- Learn by doing: engage in the full software development lifecycle from design to deployment, applying best practices for reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- See your work in action: help improve systems used by artists, producers, and content operations teams across Disney Studios.
- Take ownership of a small proof-of-concept project: explore how new frameworks, data pipelines, or AI models could enhance Disney’s media workflows.
Other
- Candidates should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to work independently as self-starters, manage their time appropriately, and function well within a diverse team.
- Junior or Senior year preferred
- Major or previous coursework in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
