The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) needs a Data Analyst III to perform moderately complex data analysis and research on funding data within the Educational Data Center (EDC). This role involves analyzing funding data, identifying data quality issues, and preparing reports to support decision-making.
Requirements
- 2+ years using SAS software for data analysis and modeling or the equivalent (i.e. SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences), Stata, R).
- Perform advanced statistical analysis and modeling using SAS tools.
- Experience developing and automating reports using SAS reporting tools.
- 3+ years of experience with advanced, end-user, data preparation and manipulation tools and languages: SAS, SQL, Python, or R; be willing to adapt to new tools.
- Experience with school funding or financial data.
- Experience with higher education data.
- Running queries, report writing, and presenting findings
Responsibilities
- Analyzes funding data using standard statistical tools, methods, and techniques such as SAS (Statistical Analysis System), SQL (Structured Query Language), Python, or similar.
- Compiles and queries funding data for use in reporting and data analysis.
- Identifies data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by analyzing the content, structure, and relationships within data.
- Identifies and interprets data patterns and trends and assesses data quality.
- Prepares concise, comprehensive technical reports to present and interpret data.
- Assists in defining, developing, and implementing data standards.
- Assists in developing data quality measures, analyzing data quality results, and implementing necessary changes to ensure data quality improvement.
