Marine Solutions is seeking a Civil Engineering student to assist in infrastructure and construction projects, providing practical experience while supporting the firm's mission of building bridges and waterfront infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Higher-level mathematics, including trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and calculus, and its application to surveying and engineering computations.
  • Knowledge of construction practices (concrete, steel, carpentry, welding, etc.).
  • Proficient in technical writing.
  • Proficient in basic computer functions (Microsoft Office, etc.).
  • Current medical certifications including bloodborne pathogens, first aid, CPR, and emergency oxygen administration if performing fieldwork.
  • Curriculum focus in structural or geotechnical engineering (preferred).
  • AutoCAD proficiency (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections under the direction of higher-level engineers.
  • Prepare reports, studies, and related documents.
  • Participate in technical review meetings with engineering and planning staff.
  • Review engineering plans, reports, studies, and related documents.
  • Assist with various engineering tasks and assignments such as preparing for and conducting field inspections, data reduction, reporting, engineering analyses, and design.
  • Work under the direction of a Project Engineer or higher who makes assignments, provides guidance, and reviews work.
  • Ensure work is completed according to instructions and in accordance with accepted principles and practices of civil engineering.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language.
  • Ability to define problems, collect/interpret data, evaluate facts, draw valid conclusions, and effectively communicate findings/results.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Possess knowledge of current literature, trends, and developments in the field of engineering and the ability to keep current with new developments.
