The Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Team at the MTA’s Department of Subways (DOS) is seeking talent for a position as a GIS Analyst to manage and maintain geospatial data related to subway assets and work orders, aiming to reduce operational downtime, reduce costs, increase operational efficiency, improve safety, ensure compliance, improve data integrity, and provide useful, real-time analytics for improved decision-making.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in GIS Fundamentals including JavaScript for GIS: ArcGIS JS API 3.x and JS API 4.x.
  • Experience with statistical analysis techniques such as time-series analysis, regression analysis
  • Understanding of data modeling and database structures
  • Knowledge of Hexagon EAM
  • Knowledge of any cloud ecosystem (Azure, GCP or AWS) and distributed analytics framework (Spark/Flink/Sedona)
  • Experience writing technical specifications, use cases, and design documentation.
  • Experience with web service and API testing, including troubleshooting issues.

Responsibilities

  • Support the EAM Program as a technical resource for data analysis and management.
  • Conduct quality control and testing for software development and data management.
  • Prepare technical reports, charts, graphs, maps, and drawings to communicate data findings.
  • Assist in the integration of ESRI GIS environments and HxGN EAM.
  • Develop GIS data and prepare a variety of GIS maps and applications for internal and external users.
  • Compile information for GIS data collected and produce GIS features using tabular data.
  • Define and document strategies for integration, system, and performance testing.

  • Knowledge & appreciation of New York City Transit system
  • Previous project experience related to public transportation or urban infrastructure systems
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into robust test cases and develop metadata as needed.
