Sargent & Lundy is looking for an intern to assist engineering teams in the design, modification, and upgrade of transmission and distribution engineering projects within their Grid business unit.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering with an expected graduation date in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 and a strong academic background.
  • Candidates pursuing other engineering degrees may also be considered if they have relevant coursework in civil, geotechnical, strength of materials, statics, or electrical power.
  • Active enrollment in a BS or MS ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Prior, related internship or co-op experience in our business area.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
  • Work on a variety of tasks associated with project reporting, such as tracking and evaluating project activities, project progress, and associated data.
  • Be involved in power designs and the preparation of documents and specifications for the procurement of major equipment, structures, and related installation services.

  • This position has a target start date in summer 2026.
  • This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of spending three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.
  • Please note that this internship position does not provide a subsidy for relocation expenses.
  • We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Self-Starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community.
