Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking a UX/UI Designer to craft intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling user experiences for their digital interfaces, aligning user needs with organizational objectives and promoting a culture of innovation and excellence in user experience design.
Requirements
- Portfolio demonstrating case studies, design process, and impact.
- Proficiency in Figma.
- Strong understanding of design principles, interaction design, responsive design, typography, and color theory.
- Experience designing responsive, web-based interfaces.
- Knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience working in an agile development environment is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Leverage user-centered methodologies to design experiences that meet user needs and organizational goals.
- Create and communicate design concepts through wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes.
- Seek feedback and insights from users and stakeholders to validate and refine design solutions.
- Support the implementation of designs to ensure fidelity to the original vision and quality standards.
- Contribute to the UX team’s collective knowledge by sharing methodologies, research findings, and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate design solutions into development workflows.
- Promote accessibility, usability, and inclusivity in all design deliverables.
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years of professional experience in UX/UI design.
- Master’s degree in the same fields with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience is encouraged.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive consensus.
