Weber State University's Department of Mechanical Engineering is looking to fill an assistant tenure track faculty position to contribute to both undergraduate and graduate education in Mechanical engineering, with a strong emphasis on teaching and developing graduate-level courses in the Dynamics, Controls, Robotics & AI emphasis areas.
Requirements
- A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or closely related area
- At least three years of industry or lab experience
- Expertise in system modeling, control theory, robot kinematics, and artificial intelligence for robotics and machine control
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) based controls/modeling of robot dynamics, computer-vision/visual servoing, diffusion modeling, Agentic AI
- Experience with computer-vision/visual servoing, diffusion modeling, Agentic AI
- Familiarity with robot kinematics, dynamics, and controls
- Experience with mechatronics, vibration, and state-space control
Responsibilities
- Contribute to both undergraduate and graduate education in Mechanical engineering
- Develop graduate-level courses in the Dynamics, Controls, Robotics & AI emphasis areas
- Teach a variety of courses in mechanical engineering
- Teach required shared courses such as ENGR2030 Dynamics, ME3040 Dynamics System Modeling, ME3060 Controls Systems, ME4550 Robotics, and others
- Develop undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering technical electives in the area of Dynamics, Controls, Robotics, & AI
- Participate in program-building and advising
- Commit to extra-curricular activities
Other
- A Ph.D. in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Robotics/Controls Engineering (preferred)
- At least five years of industry or lab experience (preferred)
- Teaching experience at the University level along with positive evaluations (preferred)
- Background check required as a condition of employment
