Shopify is looking to solve complex engineering problems at a massive scale, improve its largest Rails app in the world, and make commerce better through machine learning, while ensuring ethical design and security.

Responsibilities
- Use extensive data to build products and create and fine-tune ML models
- Build and develop the blocks that move all of Shopify forward
- Detect, evaluate, and address security threats to Shopify and its merchants
- Craft the code that powers commerce, creating the extendable products that scale the entire commerce stack
- Improve the Ruby and Rails codebase to make it even better
- Work on complex engineering problems with full ownership
- Carve out how models and algorithms embed in the product to truly support the mission
Other
- Must be legally entitled to work in the United States of America for the entire duration of the Summer 2026 internship
- Must be able to work from one of the two USA offices: Bellevue, Washington or New York City
- Must be willing and able to relocate for in-office experiences to the closest Shopify office
- Must be located in the office city by the first day of Onboarding (June 2026) ready to work 9:00am - 5:00pm
