Walmart’s Retail Intelligence team is seeking a Principal Data Scientist (Tech Lead) to drive innovation and excellence in model building for store operations
Requirements
- Strong programming skills in SQL and Python

Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of Individual Contributors (ICs) in developing critical models for store operations, with a focus on Agentic AI and mathematical modeling
- Guide sprint teams in building the architecture for AI Agents supporting Retail Store Operations
- Ensure daily work is completed within an accountable framework and updates are provided in the correct format
- Drive collaboration among data scientists to define objectives, develop strategies, and execute on project gameplans
- Provide ongoing technical support and guidance to other data scientists
- Develop, implement, and optimize class algorithms for store operations use cases
- Deliver actionable insights, recommendations, and data-driven actions to stakeholders
Other
- Master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Science, with at least 2 years as a Tech Lead, preferably in a retail environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years' experience in an analytics related field
