Walmart is looking for a Senior Director, Executive Communications and Strategy to serve as both storyteller and strategic advisor, helping define external and internal narratives that inspire and connect global tech and product strategies to the broader enterprise, and elevate Walmart’s reputation as one of the most innovative companies in the world.

- Are a trusted strategic advisor who can translate complex business and tech topics into stories people want to read and share.
- Are a storyteller and strategist in one—equally comfortable writing, coaching, planning, and influencing.
- Have a strong point of view on executive visibility and leadership narrative and know how to adapt messages for different audiences and platforms.
- Have experience in tech communications or product storytelling—in-house or agency—with a background writing for senior executives.
- Can build relationships across functions and influence without authority, bringing teams together around a shared story.
- Operate with curiosity and creativity, leveraging AI tools, data, and insights to modernize how we create and measure content.
Responsibilities
- Lead executive communications strategy for Walmart’s Global Tech and Product leadership—crafting speeches, presentations, messaging, and social content that bring Walmart’s vision for technology, AI, and product innovation to life.
- Serve as a strategic counselor to senior executives, helping them define their voice, shape priorities, and communicate with purpose and authenticity.
- Build and drive strategic alignment between Tech, Product, and business storytelling, ensuring a unified narrative across internal, external, and digital channels.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling stories that connect with associates, partners, and global audiences.
- Lead and develop a content team focused on strategic tech/product communications, executive content, and special initiatives.
- Partner across communications, HR, and business strategy teams to align messaging and strengthen associate connection to Walmart’s mission and vision.
- Develop events and visibility strategies that amplify key leaders on global stages—defining messages and formats that resonate with internal and external audiences.
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or related field and 6 years’ experience in journalism, communications, or relevant area OR 8 years’ experience in journalism, communications, or relevant area.
- 2 years’ supervisory experience.
- Direct media experience.
- Government or media relations experience in a Fortune 500 company.
- Managerial experience running media components of political election or grassroots advocacy campaigns.
- Thrive in fast-paced environments, balance multiple priorities, and stay calm under pressure.
