Google is looking to solve user needs through product design by developing entry-level technical and professional skills in user experience (UX) design through an apprenticeship program.
Requirements
- Experience with design tool, including but not limited to Figma, Sketch, or Adobe applications.
- Experience using Google Workspace or a similar suite of productivity tools.
- Less than 1 year of relevant user experience (UX) design experience through personal or professional projects, hobbies, or online coursework (Portfolios will not be collected or reviewed).
Responsibilities
- Empathize, define, and ideate solutions, using UX best practices.
- Apply learnings from design training to real projects: empathizing with users, defining pain points and needs, coming up with ideas for design solutions, creating low-fidelity wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes, and testing designs to get user feedback.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate user and business needs and communicate designs effectively.
- Leverage AI-powered tools, when appropriate, for research, synthesis, and prototyping.
- Work cross-functionally (ex. product management, software engineering, data science) to deliver accessible products by applying UX best practices.
Other
- Participation in the apprenticeship program requires that you are located in the United States for the duration of the apprenticeship program.
- High school degree, GED equivalent, or practical experience.
- Not currently enrolled in or completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree program in a design-related field.
- Ability to work comfortably in multiple competing priorities while finding suitable solutions and seeking help/advice where appropriate.
- Ability to be proactive and have a positive attitude.
