Google is looking to understand user behavior and needs to create useful, usable, and delightful products, specifically within the Commerce team to improve the shopping journey for consumers and retailers.

Requirements

  • Experience in programming languages used for data manipulation and computational statistics (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, C++, Java, or Go).
  • Experience in experimental design, and advanced statistical analysis.
  • Experience in statistical programming languages, such as Python or R.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate user behavior and user needs using empirical research methods such as logs analysis, survey research, path modeling, and regression analysis.
  • Combine skills in behavioral research design, statistical methods, and general programming to improve user experience.
  • Produce insights in a fast-paced environment and deliver insights and guiding principles across job functions and product teams in Shopping.
  • Analyze sentiment data across many of Google's surfaces where Shopping happens, leveraging SQL, and Python or R.
  • Analyze pre-processed logs data to understand user patterns and journeys across Shopping's many surfaces.
  • Combine survey methodology and experimentation with logs-derived insights, creating insights on sentiment leads and lags.
  • Develop data visualization and tools to enable teammates to monitor metrics and user behaviors in a self-service way, such as dashboards, interactive notebooks, etc.

Other

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in product research in an applied research setting, or similar.
  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • 3 years of experience working with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
  • 2 years of experience conducting UX research on products, managing projects, and working in a changing organization.
