Requirements
- Skill in Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar design tools
- Knowledge of UX best practices, accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508), and design ethics
- Knowledge of information architecture, interaction design, and visual hierarchy
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS for prototyping or developer collaboration
- Skill in problem-solving and a user-first mindset
- Knowledge of design systems such as Material Design or US Web Design System (USWDS)
- Knowledge of Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and accessibility audit tools
Responsibilities
- Leads the design and execution of wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups across web and mobile platforms
- Delivers design artifacts that meet usability, branding, and technical requirements for digital solutions
- Ensures accessibility and Section 508/WCAG compliance is integrated in all designs
- Maintains and evolves the County’s design systems and reusable component libraries
- Translates user needs and product requirements into effective UI/UX deliverables
- Provides design specifications and assets to development teams for implementation
- Conducts heuristic evaluations to identify friction points in user journeys
Other
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record
- Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code
- Individuals holding or considered for a position which has, or may have, access to criminal justice databases including the FBI Criminal Justice Information Systems, NCIC/TCIC and similar databases, must pass a national fingerprint-based records check prior to placement in such position
- Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Visual Design, Psychology, Computer Science, or a job-related field
- Three (3) years of work-related experience in UX/UI design with a track record of impactful work
