Vans is looking to hire a Men's Apparel Designer to support the design development of their Men's apparel assortments, focusing on creating innovative apparel through trend analysis and effective cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
- Ability to translate insights and inspiration into compelling apparel concepts.
- Ability to conduct trend analysis and market research to inform design decisions.
- Knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (e.g., Merchandising, Product Development) to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Strong sketching, illustration, and rendering skills and a high level of proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, Keynote, Figma, etc.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Drive the design development of the Men’s assortments in line with seasonal concepts.
- Conduct trend and business analysis to inform design decisions.
- Create sketches, initial tech packs, fit direction, fabric selections and developments.
- Allocate colors, develop washes and finishes, and manage submit and bulk approvals.
- Support the Senior Men’s Apparel Designer & the Design team through the design development of seasonal collections and special projects.
- Partner with regional and global cross-functional teams (Merchandising, Product Development, Technical Design, Consumer Insights, etc.) to facilitate the GTM collection pipeline.
- Oversee the process from pre-season research and development, design and cost-engineering, to bulk approvals.
