Newport News Shipbuilding is looking to solve the problem of creating advanced visual work instructions and manufacturing documentation to guide ship construction and integration activities.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in relevant field and 3 Years of relevant experience
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
- Experience in shipbuilding, aerospace, or other heavy industrial manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of model-based definition (MBD) and digital manufacturing systems
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of high-quality 2D and 3D visual work instructions for shipbuilding and manufacturing processes.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, 3D models, and specifications to create accurate, step-by-step visual documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, and trade experts to validate content and ensure compliance with design and production requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by refining visualization processes, templates, and digital standards.
- Serve as a mentor and technical lead for junior developers, providing training and quality reviews.
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery of accurate visual documentation to support production schedules.
- Utilize advanced visualization and authoring tools (NX, Teamcenter, Creo, or similar)
