The Sanctuary, a non-profit organization, is looking to solve the problem of protecting and restoring the cloud-forest of Tutamoe Peak in Northland, New Zealand, which is home to endangered species such as the kiwi bird and the giant kauri snail.
Requirements
- ability to perform hands-on conservation work
- knowledge of conservation and sustainability practices
- ability to monitor and track wildlife
- data entry skills
- ability to perform physical labor such as chopping wood and building
- knowledge of off-grid living and sustainability
- ability to work with tools and equipment
Responsibilities
- cutting and marking tracks
- installing, refilling and monitoring bait stations
- monitoring kiwi, kokako, possum, and rodents
- monitoring bats, lizards, and fresh water fish
- entering data
- weeding and planting the herb garden
- building & landscaping
