Atria Health and Research Institute is seeking a Vice President of Data & AI to lead the strategy, governance, and technical execution of data and artificial intelligence across the organization to accelerate a global shift from reactive sick care to proactive, preventive health care.
Requirements
- 12+ years in data engineering, AI/ML, or related technical fields, including 5+ years in leadership roles.
- Proven experience building data and AI teams from the ground up, ideally in a scaling or startup environment.
- Deep technical expertise in data architecture, data governance, and modern AI/ML systems.
- Hands-on experience with ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and AI infrastructure at scale.
- Strong understanding of healthcare data standards, privacy rules (HIPAA, PHI handling), and regulated AI development.
- Track record of delivering AI/ML projects from concept to production with measurable impact.
- Experience building and scaling technical teams, ideally in both data engineering and AI engineering.
Responsibilities
- Assess, redesign, and scale Atria’s existing data platform to meet current and future needs as the single source of truth for clinical and operational data.
- Build the data and AI function from a small core team into a high-performing organization.
- Establish robust data governance, privacy enforcement, and compliance frameworks at the data layer.
- Build and scale internal APIs and safe data movement patterns (de-identification, audit trails, encryption, access controls).
- Oversee the creation and operation of data pipelines, analytics infrastructure, and foundational BI enablement.
- Define AI guardrails, use-case tiers, and approval criteria for safe deployment in clinical and operational contexts.
- Build evaluation frameworks with clear thresholds, rollback procedures, and human-in-the-loop requirements.

- Hybrid role based in New York City, with 3 days/week in the office (Tuesday–Thursday).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required.
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in AI/ML, Data Science, or a related technical discipline strongly preferred.
- Ability to set and execute a clear vision for data and AI across a complex organization.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to explain technical concepts to executive, clinical, and non-technical stakeholders.
