FIU GIS Center is seeking a Web Application Developer I to support the development and maintenance of academic data portal projects, including the implementation of AI/ML components.
Requirements
- Utilizes scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) and programming languages such as C-Sharp /Java to assist in customizing and extending system functionalities.
- Applies knowledge of ESRI software, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Portal, to assist in enhancing system capabilities.
- Supports the use of APIs for system integrations and data exchanges between platforms.
- Knowledge or training in open-source systems implementation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with server-side coding, debugging, and performance testing.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the deployment, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of open-source systems that are integral to the academic data portal.
- Collaborates in the design and development of data pipelines, aiding in the integration of multiple systems to ensure efficient data flow and system interoperability.
- Works with senior software engineers to support the integration of AI and machine learning components into the system, contributing to enhanced data processing and analytical functionalities.
- Utilizes scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) and programming languages such as C-Sharp /Java to assist in customizing and extending system functionalities.
- Provides input and support in the development of system architectures that meet the academic and operational needs of the FIU GIS Center.
- Supports data analysis efforts to inform system development and optimize performance.
- Applies knowledge of ESRI software, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Portal, to assist in enhancing system capabilities.

- Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Studies, or other technical discipline and one (1) year of related experience; OR five (5) years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
