The Illinois State Police (DoIT/ISP) is looking to solve the problem of designing and writing program specifications and code for complex distributed systems enhancements and new web application development.

Requirements

  • experience with web application development
  • knowledge of distributed systems
  • familiarity with web-based data processing
  • experience with design, construction, and maintenance of applications
  • knowledge of programming techniques, applications, documentation, standards, and requirements
  • experience with Information Technology field
  • familiarity with products, vendors, techniques, and procedures

Responsibilities

  • design and write program specifications and code for complex distributed systems enhancements and new web application development
  • perform technical and advisory tasks in the areas of design, construction, and maintenance of applications
  • interview users on distributed and web-based data processing needs and technical studies
  • maintain, analyze, recommend, and enhance new procedures and techniques to improve the supported application systems
  • serve as a resource and contact for users of the web systems, other technical staff, and the ISP help desk personnel
  • provide guidance and training to lower-level staff on the proper programming techniques, applications, documentation, standards, and requirements
  • keep abreast of new developments in the Information Technology field by continuing education through meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences

Other

  • perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above
  • provide guidance and training to lower-level staff
  • serve as a resource and contact for users of the web systems, other technical staff, and the ISP help desk personnel
