O'Reilly Media is looking to solve the problem of creating exceptional web experiences by designing and developing custom WordPress themes and plugins from the ground up.
Requirements
- 3+ years of WordPress development experience
- Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript, and MySQL
- Experience with WordPress Theme Development, WordPress Plugin Development, Custom post types and taxonomies, WordPress REST API, Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), Git version control, Responsive design principles, Cross-browser compatibility
- Understanding of WordPress coding standards, Web security principles, SEO best practices, Page speed optimization
- Experience with Sass/LESS, Modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue.js), Build tools (Gulp, Webpack), WordPress Multisite, PERL/ ModPERL (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom WordPress themes from scratch
- Create custom plugins to extend WordPress functionality
- Convert designs into responsive, WordPress-compliant themes
- Optimize website performance and implement SEO best practices
- Troubleshoot and debug existing WordPress sites
- Ensure cross-browser compatibility and mobile responsiveness
