Wabtec is looking to improve its welding processes, with a strong focus on robotic welding applications, to drive continuous improvement in quality, productivity, and safety.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in welding engineering, with direct experience in robotic welding systems (Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa, or similar).
- Strong understanding of welding processes (MIG, TIG, spot welding, resistance welding, etc.).
- Knowledge of weld metallurgy, materials, and defect prevention.
- Experience with welding codes and standards (AWS, ISO, ASME).
- Proven ability to program, troubleshoot, and optimize robotic welding systems.
- Hands-on problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with PLCs and automation integration.
Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain robotic welding processes, parameters, and programs to ensure consistent weld quality.
- Troubleshoot welding and robotic system issues, implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Work with design, production, and quality teams to ensure weld specifications meet customer and industry standards.
- Support welding equipment installation, commissioning, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Conduct weld testing, inspections, and qualifications (e.g., destructive and non-destructive testing).
- Develop and maintain welding process documentation (WPS, PQR, work instructions).
- Provide technical training and support to operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel on robotic welding systems.

- Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience), preferred
- Excellent communication and cross-functional teamwork skills.
- Strong analytical and project management skills.
- Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge.
- Weld inspection certifications (e.g., CWI).
